A bunch of disturbing things have happened since my last post. I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch. But, here's what I remember:
1) The person who found my blog by searching for "girl getting screwed by a wookie".
2) The fact that my blog ranks #3 in the results for the above search.
3) MSN's alternate search suggestion: *Were you looking for girl getting screwed by a cookie?
4) The Lord of War poster that is plastered all over the subway stations of NYC. It actually makes me phsycially ill when I see it. I can't look at it for more than a split second before I shudder and have to turn away. It reminds me of the awful photographs from my mom's pathophysiology textbooks depicting the most ghastly and horrendous skin conditions imaginable. It makes me want to puke and it doesn't help that I despise Nicolas Cage.
5) The look on Mike Meyer's and Chris Tucker's faces in response to Kanye West's live tirade on the media and President Bush during NBC's hurricane fundraiser. Priceless. There is a long buffer, but it's worth the wait.
6) Wayne's spirited take on the Village People's YMCA dressed as "the indian" during Dan & Hilary's wedding last weekend in Norfolk. Was he slapping his ass as he rode his imaginary bronco? Another highlight included J & I getting everyone out on the dance floor by requesting Bizarre Love Triangle & Devo's Whip It back-to-back. Yeah, we know how to get the party thumpin'. Many thanks to "Brian from Affordable DJs."
A couple nights ago, J & I went to the Warsaw to see the new hype sensation Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and ended up falling in love with The National. I've been following them for the past few years, but this was my first time seeing them live. I pity all the foos who left after CYHSY's set and missed the amazing show The National put on.
In other news, music madness is about to descend upon Gotham. Next week NYC will be host to the 25th CMJ Music Marathon. I've gone through the schedules and have my showcases picked! Unfortunately due to my own performance obligations, I'll be missing some fantastic shows on Wednesday night like the Doves and Feist among others. But, on Thursday I'll be camping out at Bowery Ballroom for the Kemado showcase to see Dungen and Diamond Nights. Friday, I'll be heading over to Hiro for the Arts & Crafts showcase to see Most Serene Republic and Apostle of Hustle. Then after the matinee show at Pianos on Saturday, I'll be hitting up Cake Shop for some delicious creamy sweets, and the New York Noise showcase featuring my personal favorites Au Revoir Simone and Mahogany.
Tonight a bunch of us are headed to the Spring 2006 fashion show for H. Fredriksson in Chelsea. I'll be bringing my drool guard and a fresh can of Aqua Net.
If anyone has any recommendations for Tuesday's elections, please let me know. I'm shamefully in the dark this year.
